Soup and Salad is one of the closest lunch venues to the building. It sells soup and, erm, salads - but that's simplistic, as it also sells a limited range of sandwiches and wraps.
I went for the Toulouse Sausage soup with lentils (medium size), this was billed as including leeks and carrots; I also had some crusty bread and a banana. I was asked if I wanted fresh parsley on top, and this seemed to give it a certain rustic charm.
This soup was in the "Meat" section of the menu, which you would expect, given that Toulouse sausage was in the recipe. Well I think it only just scrapes into this section, as I only had two and a half slices of sausage in my soup..... The soup tasted good, and I'm sure would have been better for more sausage; there were plenty of lentils in it, but not so much leek or carrot. The bread was very light and airy, and I don't think it was a good soup accompaniment - as a dipping bread, it did not soak up the liquid.
The total cost was £4.30, which wasn't too bad, but as I am a carnivore, I would expect more meat for my buck. I won't be going back, given how stingy they are.
