Ashby's is a sandwich bar/café in the lanes just north of the Grapeshots wine bar. There were a few dishes in the window - rice, pasta etc - and a limited selection of sandwich fillers in a chiller inside the shop.
I selected a baguette and had barbeque chicken with salad and mayonnaise. The chicken was tasty, with a small bit of spice to it. Apart from that, not much to say, really - it's a sandwich bar. The selection is not as great as La Forchetta, in a similar location.
I also bought a banana - now I like my banana nice and firm, on the green side. I tried to choose the least ripe one there. In the light it appeared to be fine, but when I got back to base, it was turning black, and I did not enjoy it at all.
I probably won't go back. That’s not to say it’s bad, but I preferred both Bivio and La Forchetta, both close by.
