I'd been to Flying Angels before to buy the biggest cake ever - a chocolate twist that was about 12 inches long for only £2 - after going to the Mediterranean Café a couple of weeks ago. This time, it's for my lunch, so therefore eligible for the blog, and still within the principles of sourcing lunch from somewhere different each day. It's now five weeks, although the last two day's I've been away from the office.
Anyway, I bought a spicy lamb "pizza" and a pistachio baklava. The Pizza was £3.50, and the baklava should have been £1.80, so as I was only charged £4.30, I think I got a bargain (only just realised!). The pizza was actually a thin pizza base acting as a wrap for spicy minced lamb and salad. The lamb tasted good, and the cucumber gave a nice crunch when biting. The baklava was pure stodge - very heavy in my stomach now, and I'm not too sure about the taste.
Certainly an interesting lunch. I will definitely go back there for a wrap/pizza, but will have to try a different cake - maybe it's me and I don't like the taste of the baklava. If only Iakovos was still here, he'd be able to put me right on whether it tasted as it should!
